Everyone enjoys eating dessert. Sweet desserts, sour desserts, even salty and bitter desserts are welcome depending on someone’s mood. Eating dessert after a meal is a custom in many countries and for many people because it cleans the palate and gives a satisfying ending to your meals.

One of the most popular kind of dessert is the cupcake. For some people, it may even pass as a full meal, but cupcakes are commonly dessert.

Sweet, fluffy and flavorful, there are hundreds of types of cupcakes around the world, with different recipes and ingredients.

Cupcakes, as the name would hint, are smaller versions of a cake that is served for one. Of course, bigger cupcakes can be made for sharing.

The Most Expensive Cupcake

Cupcakes are really quite common and can even be a simple homemade dessert. Prices range from cheap to average.

Occasionally, we come across exceptional cupcakes that excel in taste and flavor with exotic ingredients that can be quite pricey.

Because of the expensive ingredients, the price of the cupcakes will also rise accordingly. In some cases, the prices rise exponentially. So it’s more of a luxury food, more than anything.

The most expensive cupcake we have found is priced $1,010 per piece. Found exclusively in Dubai’s Bloomsbury cupcake shop, the Golden Phoenix cupcake has 23-carat of edible gold sheet per piece. It has vanilla beans, Italian chocolate, dipped in strawberry and served on a Villari 24-carat gold empire cake stand.

The cupcake has chocolate icing and is covered with edible gold dust. Golden Phoenix cupcake is listed in many “most expensive dishes list”.

Shafeena Yusuff Ali, the founder of Bloomsbury cupcake, spent five weeks creating and perfecting this luxury cupcake.

Bloomsbury donates 50% of the cupcake proceeds to the World Food Programme to aid children victimized by casualties and crises.

Considering that proceeds go to charity for children, one who can afford such cupcake will be inspired to invest in this luxury dessert.
