Do you ever stop and think about how amazing the internet is and how much it has formed our lives in this generation?
Even right now, as you are reading this, you are in the World Wide Web in what we call “browsing”. True, the internet is continuously improving. You can see all sorts of information in it, not knowing the ends of it, and believing that the internet is forever.
Through the circuits and loops of the vast web, billions of information is shared every minute around the globe.
The internet has helped us in many ways from business, personal to other aspects of our lives. The question is: how did all this start? Obviously, the internet has not been with us since forever.
With the rise of technology, so did the World Wide Web which we have now.
How did the internet start?
The internet began as a developed electronic tool for scientists from the United States, United Kingdom and France to share information.
Network systems were created in the 1960s such as the ARPANET. Initially, due to the complexity of the network process, internet use was limited to the government.
In 1986, interconnectivity was provided for universities to have access to the internet.
The Oldest Website
The world’s first ever internet website turned 26 years old. More than a quarter of a century ago, British genius Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web which we now conveniently use and access with any internet-connected device.
The first website went online on December 20, 1990, launched from Tim Berners-Lee’s NeXT computer. This laid the foundations of the World Wide Web which has made a great impact to the 21st century and the new generation.
The idea of creating a website came to Berners-Lee in 1989 but he was able to put it into action only the following year.
Generous man that he is, he put the World Wide Web software up for public domain which means the software cannot be owned by a single company.
The first website, unsurprisingly, has a simple and old school layout with general information about the World Wide Web. The page is a black screen with green font that look a lot like a command window.
Optimistically, Tim Berners-Lee believed that the World Wide Web is a great invention that can be helpful to many generations to come, and he was right.
26 years later, the internet has fully grown with a lot more potential for improvement, helping society and technology in many ways we can think of.

From the introduction of the first website up to now, the World Wide Web has seen many improvements that has helped people and technology in countless ways.
As they say, the internet is forever, and we hope that it is true. The internet and browsing the World Wide Web has become a way of life for many of us that improvements can only be welcomed.
