Hi there! I am a freelance writer who lives and breaths content on a daily basis. I consider myself to be a living paradox. An old soul trapped in a modern world. A self-proclaimed hopeless romantic and a professional over-thinker. I can't start anything unless I have my coffee. Writing has been and always will be my way of calming the storms in my heart and mind.

With thousands of career choices and opportunities in the United States, it’s wholly understandable how the next generation finds it a bit of a challenge to choose and follow their dream job. There’s a passion for doing what you love. Then there’s loving what you do and a lot of that is owed to the money, especially if you have a gross annual income of more than $200,000 – that’s tons and tons of bacon to bring home.

Executives and businessmen may seem to take the top rank, what with their suits and dignified appearance. Although they still earn quite a lot, they do not take the record for the highest-paid.

Unless you are Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg, wearing a suit just comes second for the highest paid job in the most diverse country.

Want to know who they are and what it takes to get the highest paying job? Here you go.

Doctors and Surgeons

Wearing a scrub suit and a stethoscope around your neck, barely having enough sleep and your blood mostly fuelled by caffeine does not come cheap. After more than 10 years of medical school, endless memorizations, and exams, you can reap the benefits of your hard work once you start practicing your career of being a doctor.

From the latest study and survey of all US careers, doctors (specifically anaesthesiologists) and surgeons take the top ranks of highest paid jobs.

But it does not come in easy. Of course, with great power (and pay) also comes great responsibility – and doctors have the highest risks of all. Why? Simply because they handle “life”.

With an annual wage of $234,950, their generous income also comes with the high demands of their chosen career, plus the many years of studying, attending classes, passing exams, and submitting assignments.

How Can You Become One?

Although it may seem like doctors have superpowers when it comes to education and most of them have excelled much in school, the truth is that they had their basics just as how you and I had ours. You need to finish your high school requirements and go to college.

  1. The first step to becoming a doctor is to earn a bachelor’s degree in any pre-med course. This can either be chemistry, anatomy, physics, biology, or any pre-med course that you chose college offer.
  2. Next, you will need to take and pass the medical college admission test.
  3. Then, you will need to go to school again and take the 4-year medical school.
  4. The fourth step to fulfilling your dream is to take the board exams and earn your license.
  5. Last, you will need to complete your residency.

What Do I Think

Being a doctor is the perfect representation of “hard work pays off”. It’s not easy – that everyone can approve.

From many years of study to be a doctor with all the risks and demands, one can say that the work of a doctor never rests. With pride and honor, apart from being the highest paid, doctors are noble people who work hard to save lives.
